Regarding hands, touch, and the power of massage. Wisdom and inspiration from the pioneers.

Offering massage is much more than applying various massage techniques. It is about creating an unforgettable experience that will benefit your client on a physical, mental, and emotional level.

Here are some quotes I have chosen over time, inspired by the magic of massage:

Regarding Hands and Touch...

The human hand, in combination with the mind and heart, is the most advanced tool in the universe. Undoubtedly, hands are the most useful part of our body for any task, but for a massage therapist, it is their main tool. The hand and the quality of the touch reflect the soul.

"Touch is as fundamental to human well-being as the food we eat and the water we drink. Massage is a beneficial daily activity and one doesn’t need to be ill or have a problem to receive a massage."

– David Palmer

Observation: The purpose of a massage is not only medical, for the treatment or prevention of pain and illness but also for the sense of freedom and well-being that a good massage leaves behind. It may be a feeling unfamiliar to those trying massage for the first time.

"Hands are the visible part of the mind."

– Immanuel Kant

"The greatest innovation in medicine in the next 10 years: The power of the human hand."

– Dr. Abraham Verghese

"If your heart and attention are not projected into your hands, even ten thousand techniques will be useless."

– Tesshu Yamaoka

"Many think that working with the mind is more important than working with the hands. No one who thinks with their hands would believe that."

– E.F. Schumacher

The mind does not forget what the hands have learned...

"There is a unique temple in the universe, and that is the human body. Nothing is more sacred than this higher form. We touch paradise when we place our hands upon the human body."

– Thomas Carlyle

Regarding Body and Massage...

Taking care of oneself is anything but selfish. You cannot serve from an empty cup. That’s why both therapists and “clients” need massages!

"A person cannot change without a new experience."

– Moshe Feldenkrais

Observation 1: Of all the methods for health and wellness available, massage is the most direct way to a new experience because it is consciously applied to the body and requires no energy from the recipient.

Observation 2: According to scientific research, what makes us happiest are not objects but experiences. Invest in happiness, buy massage services (preferably Back Pro Massage)! :)

"People may forget what you said or did, but they will never forget how you made them feel."– Maya Angelou

"I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy."– Rabindranath Tagore

"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."– Mahatma Gandhi

Touch is the "Mother" of the Senses

"Touch is the first language we speak."

– Stephen Gaskin

Touch is the first sense that develops in humans and likely the last one to be lost. It is the first way we feel cared for, and this continues throughout our lives.

Observation: Just as the sense of touch is the mother of all senses, massage is the king of all services. It strengthens, promotes, complements, and improves every other service. From haircuts, aesthetics, and manicures to physiotherapy and chiropractic. Of course, massage by itself is the perfect service for any recipient but also for the giver when used correctly. It is a valuable tool for both work and home, to share with your loved ones.

Touch, with training and awareness, intention, and skill, has the ability to enhance the messages we convey to the client’s nervous system, creating openings and possibilities in their body and mind that they might not have been able to achieve on their own
